About the role
As an Embedded Software Engineer at Prado, you will create the firmware that powers next‑generation smart‑home devices. You will work at the intersection of hardware and software, delivering high‑performance, reliable and secure embedded applications using Rust.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain embedded software for smart‑home devices and connected systems.
- Implement high‑performance, reliable and secure firmware using Rust and modern C++.
- Develop and optimise communication protocols (e.g., MQTT, Matter, KNX, gRPC) for constrained environments.
- Write unit tests before, during and after feature development to ensure long‑term quality.
- Collaborate closely with hardware engineers to integrate software with custom electronics and platforms.
- Stay up‑to‑date with emerging embedded‑software trends and smart‑home innovations.
- Document code and communicate clearly to support effective team collaboration.
Required profile
- Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or a related field.
- 3–4 years of relevant professional experience.
- Strong programming skills in modern C++.
- Experience with Rust is a strong asset.
- Familiarity with communication protocols such as MQTT, Matter, KNX or gRPC.
- Interest in AI and willingness to experiment with new technologies.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proactive attitude, able to work independently and within a team.
- Fluent English; Dutch is advantageous.
