Educational Support Assistant / Nursery Assistant (Part‑time, Fixed‑term)

About the role

The European School Brussels I is seeking part‑time Educational Support Assistants and/or Nursery Assistants to support pupils with special educational needs across its Greek, English, Italian and Latvian language sections. The role combines health‑care, pedagogical and inclusive duties to ensure pupils’ well‑being and academic success.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing and personal care (mobility, toileting, feeding, medical procedures) and monitor health throughout the school day.
• Deliver personalised educational support in class, small groups or one‑to‑one, using differentiated teaching methods and assistive technologies.
• Assist in preparing and implementing Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and track pupil progress.
• Collaborate with teachers, healthcare professionals and parents to develop and adjust care and learning plans.
• Promote social and emotional development through caring activities and positive behaviour strategies.

Required profile

• Experience or training in child care, special‑needs education or school nursing.
• Ability to work flexibly according to pupil numbers and school needs.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to inclusive education and pupil safety.
