Data Technical Lead – Azure & Databricks

About the role

Our client, a leading insurance organization, is seeking a Data Technical Lead to drive architectural alignment and ensure technical quality across its data engineering environment. The role bridges engineering teams and platform architects, guiding the design and delivery of robust data solutions in the cloud.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the technical authority for data engineers, enforcing architectural standards.
• Validate pull requests and conduct peer reviews to maintain high‑quality data engineering practices.
• Translate architectural guidelines into clear, actionable instructions for implementation teams.
• Design, develop, and optimise scalable data pipelines within Azure.
• Collaborate with data modelers to implement robust, scalable data structures.
• Coach and mentor junior engineers, fostering technical growth.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of the data platform and engineering maturity.

Required profile

• Extensive experience with Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory and Mapping Data Flow.
• Strong proficiency in Databricks and PySpark.
• Advanced SQL skills for data transformation and analysis.
• Deep knowledge of dimensional modelling, star schemas and data‑warehouse concepts.
• Natural leadership ability to guide multiple teams.
• Excellent communication, analytical mindset and structured problem‑solving.
• Ability to make independent technical decisions and work autonomously.
• Fluent in English and French, with good knowledge of Dutch.
