Data Governance Specialist

About the role

As a Senior Data Governance Specialist you will design and implement the Enterprise Data Foundation, turning chaotic data into a trusted strategic asset. You will work with clients to establish stewardship, quality, and master data practices that enable both human decision‑making and AI systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the definition of data governance strategies to create a single version of truth, focusing on Master Data Management and cross‑functional standards.
• Design and deploy automated data‑quality monitoring and remediation workflows.
• Modernize governance architecture by transitioning legacy silos to Data Mesh and federated governance models.
• Implement metadata management, technical lineage, and business glossaries for full transparency and auditability.
• Oversee data‑privacy and regulatory compliance (GDPR, HIPAA) and embed security and ethics into the data supply chain.
• Prepare the data environment for AI‑agentic workflows by ensuring data is structured and labeled for machine consumption.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• 2–6 years of experience in functional analysis or data‑centric roles, preferably in consulting or project‑based environments.
• Proven expertise in data modeling (conceptual/logical) with knowledge of Data Vault or Kimball methodologies.
• Experience with cloud data‑warehousing platforms such as Snowflake or Azure Synapse.
• Comfortable working in Scrum environments; Product Owner or Scrum Master certifications are a plus.
• Familiarity with data‑governance tools like Collibra or Alation.
• Excellent communication skills in English and Dutch or French.
