Backend Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join our Channel Team in Louvain‑la‑Neuve, responsible for all messaging channels. You will work in a collaborative Scrum environment with Product Managers and UX designers, shaping the architecture, development and scaling of our communication services. The role also uses AI‑assisted coding with Claude to speed development, improve quality and support complex backend workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain high‑performance APIs and event‑driven services for multichannel messaging.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to influence system architecture and ensure reliable, scalable delivery of push notifications, SMS, email and in‑app messages.

Required profile

• Fluent in French and English with a proactive, problem‑solving attitude.
• Basic information‑security competence and adherence to ISO 27001‑certified processes.

Required skills

• Strong Java and Spring experience, including OpenAPI/REST API design.
• Hands‑on with Kafka, MySQL, MongoDB, Tomcat, Nginx and container orchestration (Kubernetes/Docker).
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git, Maven and npm, and comfortable using AI coding assistants like Claude.
