Cyber Security Engineer

About the role

Thales Belgium is looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to join its Security discipline within the Engineering group. You will work on a wide range of defence and civil products, ensuring they meet the highest cybersecurity standards from early market capture through to final delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain state‑of‑the‑art knowledge of cybersecurity, civil and defence regulatory frameworks.
• Act as the primary contact for all cybersecurity considerations in bids and projects.
• Support architecture teams on security aspects of specifications, design, Make/Team/Buy decisions and customer interfaces.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation such as high‑level and low‑level designs, configuration documents, user manuals and test plans.
• Perform detailed cybersecurity risk assessments, design, implementation and testing activities to meet project objectives.
• Provide technical expertise to implementation and testing teams, ensuring traceability from user requirements to final tests.

Required profile

• Engineering degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications or Cybersecurity.
• Strong background in IT, telecommunication systems and/or cybersecurity.
• Passion for learning emerging technologies and applying them to security‑centric projects.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple disciplines and with external customers.

Required skills

• Knowledge of cybersecurity standards and regulatory frameworks.
• Risk assessment and mitigation techniques.
• Security architecture and design.
• Technical documentation creation.
• Experience with 4G/5G communications, cryptography, cloud computing and big data concepts.
