Corporate Governance Research Trainee - Iberian Market (Spanish Speaking)

About the role

ISS STOXX is looking for a pool of self-motivated research trainees starting in January 2027. The trainees join the Iberia team and work alongside experienced analysts during the proxy voting season, supporting the research behind voting recommendations given to institutional investors. The role focuses on analysing shareholder meeting agenda items and corporate governance practices of listed companies during the AGM season. It is research-intensive and requires strong analytical and written communication skills.

Key responsibilities

• Review company disclosures, annual reports, governance reports, remuneration reports, meeting notices and other public filings to assess proposals submitted for shareholder approval, such as director elections, executive remuneration, auditor appointments and capital authorities.
• Analyse meeting proposals and conduct research within ISS's benchmark voting guidelines.
• Contribute to the preparation of detailed reports explaining the rationale behind each voting recommendation.

Required profile

• Native-level Spanish; fluent English (spoken and written); reading Portuguese is an advantage.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Law, Political Science, International Relations or a related field, or currently pursuing one.
• Prior experience or interest in corporate governance, capital markets, company law, ESG or financial markets is an advantage.
• Must be based in the country of employment from day 1 and able to work 5 days a week from the ISS STOXX office.

Required skills

• Strong analytical, research and writing skills, able to turn complex information into clear analysis.
• Ability to review and synthesise large amounts of information, including quantitative data, from several sources under tight deadlines.
• Independent, organised and proactive, able to manage competing deadlines and work in a team.

What we offer

• Remuneration of 2,242.81 EUR gross per month for 5.5 months, from 18 January 2027 to 30 June 2027.
