Chief Accountant – Belgium

About the role

Mölnlycke is seeking a Chief Accountant to lead its finance function in Belgium. Based in Waremme, you will own the full accounting and statutory reporting cycle for both Belgian and Dutch operations, acting as a trusted partner to the Finance & Administration Director.

Key responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly and annual closings in line with Belgian GAAP and IFRS Group standards.
• Prepare and submit statutory financial statements, corporate income tax returns and VAT declarations on Belgian administration platforms and the National Bank of Belgium.
• Submit monthly reporting and disclosures using COGNOS and other Group reporting tools.
• Serve as primary contact for auditors, tax authorities and Group Finance on IFRS matters.
• Implement and maintain the Group's internal control framework and ensure key controls are in place.
• Prepare tax packs, analyse permanent and temporary differences and apply country‑specific adjustments.
• Ensure full reconciliation of balance‑sheet accounts and resolve aged items promptly.
• Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes and reporting quality, collaborating with GBS teams.
• Support financial strategy, rolling forecasts, performance analysis and cash‑flow management.
• Visit the Berchem office twice a month to maintain strong relationships with local finance stakeholders.

Required profile

• Academic degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 5–10 years of senior accounting or audit experience, preferably with Big Four or in‑house manufacturing experience.
• Hands‑on experience filing corporate tax returns and statutory accounts on Belgian regulatory platforms.
• Strong command of Belgian GAAP and IFRS with ability to reconcile between the two frameworks.
• Fluent in French and English; Dutch is a strong asset.
