Battery Laboratory Technician

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Battery Laboratory Technician to join our Energy Storage R&D team in Ghislenghien, Belgium. The role focuses on laboratory‑scale battery fabrication, performance testing, material characterisation and data generation to support product development.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble and fabricate laboratory‑scale batteries.
• Conduct electrochemical and performance testing of batteries.
• Prepare samples and test materials following SOPs.
• Generate, record and organise experimental data; assist in reporting findings.
• Operate, maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment; ensure a clean, safe workspace.
• Support material characterisation using techniques such as particle size analysis, BET surface area, conductivity testing, TGA and pycnometry.
• Manage consumables, chemicals and laboratory documentation in compliance with safety procedures.

• Practical, detail‑oriented and organised.
• Curious and eager to learn about battery technologies.
• Comfortable working in a laboratory environment.

Required skills

• Battery fabrication and lithium‑ion battery assembly.
• Electrochemical testing.
• Laboratory equipment operation and calibration.
• Sample preparation and handling of chemicals/powders.
• Material characterisation techniques: Particle Size Analysis, BET Surface Area, Conductivity Testing, Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Pycnometry.
