Mechanical Technician – Data Center Maintenance

About the role

Google’s Data Center team is looking for a Mechanical Technician to support the operation and reliability of sophisticated HVAC and mechanical systems in a high‑performance data centre environment. You will work on a variety of equipment, from chillers and air handling units to pumps and cooling distribution components, ensuring optimal performance and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical and cooling distribution systems, including chillers, AHUs, pumps, and CRAC/CRAH units.
• Perform routine testing, calibration, and troubleshooting using hand tools, digital meters, and diagnostic equipment.
• Assist with material handling tasks, lifting up to 50 lb, and use required safety equipment and PPE.
• Collaborate with contractors and internal teams during upgrades or emergency interventions.
• Monitor system performance, respond to outages, and execute corrective actions to minimise downtime.
• Support compliance with environmental, safety, and ergonomic standards.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience in a technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical or HVAC maintenance within an industrial or commercial setting.
• Ability to work non‑standard hours, shifts, and on‑call rotations.
• Physical ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lb and operate on platforms or ladders safely.

Required skills
