Antenna Systems Engineer

About the role

Aerospacelab designs and manufactures small satellites and develops earth observation services, with offices in Belgium, France, Switzerland and the US West Coast. It is looking for an Antenna Systems Engineer to design and analyse satellite antenna systems, including direct radiating array (DRA) antennas, reflector antennas and array-fed reflector antennas, and to support the whole development chain from requirements through to operations.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development chain: requirements, architecture, design, manufacturing, integration, test and operations
• Work with mechanical, electrical, software and thermal teams, and support design reviews for requirements and interface compliance
• Work with external antenna system providers to write specifications, review designs, resolve issues and define integration and test approaches
• Develop test plans and carry out in-lab testing and on-orbit performance validation using RF measurement tools such as network analyzers and anechoic chambers

Required profile

• MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in antennas for space
• Hands-on experience with telecom satellite antenna hardware
• Ability to work autonomously across teams and drive multi-disciplinary projects to completion
• Good communication skills and fluency in English

Required skills

• Antenna analysis with tools such as Satsoft and GRASP
• Antenna solution definition, interference analysis, performance analysis and simulation, antenna sizing and performance budgets
• Antenna hardware specification definition
• Nice to have: experience in frequency coordination (ITU, FCC), satellite constellation work, and knowledge of SDR and DSP
