AIT Engineer - FSOC

About the role

Aerospacelab designs and manufactures small satellites and develops earth observation services. Its team of more than 25 engineers works across hardware design, software development and data science, with offices in Belgium, France, Switzerland and the US. This AIT Engineer position is based in the FSOC department in Belgium and is a permanent contract.

Key responsibilities

• Mechanical and electrical assembly, integration and testing of prototypes and products
• Environmental testing of prototypes and products (vibration, thermal vacuum, etc.)
• Support and review of the mechanical, thermal and electrical design of the products
• Design and manufacture of ground support equipment for handling and testing company products
• Provide input to the team from a testing perspective and feed their input back

Required profile

• MSc in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering or a related field
• Hands-on experience designing and assembling complex assemblies
• Knowledge or interest in environmental testing
• Fluent English and willingness to learn a broad range of engineering topics
• Nice to have: prior experience in the space sector

Required skills

• Experience with CAD
• Measurement concepts and tools, data acquisition and measurement automation
• Data analysis, plotting and reporting
• Nice to have: production of engineering drawings, use of milling machines, lathes and drills, programming languages such as Python, Java, C or C++, and experience with optical components and systems
