Academic Position in Quantitative Supply Chain Management

About the role

The Louvain School of Management and the Louvain Institute of Data Analysis and Modeling seek a full‑time academic to develop and deliver quantitative supply chain management education and to lead cutting‑edge research.

Key responsibilities

• Teach bachelor’s and master’s courses in supply chain optimization, logistics, sourcing, procurement and risk modelling in English and French across the Louvain‑la‑Neuve and Mons campuses.
• Develop an internationally visible research programme on decision and optimisation problems in supply chain design, planning and operations, publishing in leading OR/MS journals.
• Supervise doctoral dissertations, collaborate with the Centre for Operations Research and Econometrics and related institutes, and contribute to university service committees.

Required profile

• PhD in Operations Research, Operations Management, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering or a closely related quantitative field.
• Proven university teaching record with evidence of effective instruction.
• Strong independent research track record with publications in top‑tier journals and potential to secure competitive funding.
• Experience abroad or extended stay outside the awarding institution.

Required skills

• Expertise in mathematical programming, especially integer, stochastic, robust and distributionally robust optimisation.
• Ability to integrate optimisation models with statistical and econometric methods for data‑driven decision making.
• Knowledge of supply chain systems, including network design, inventory control, routing and resilience analysis.
