About the role

The Department of Economics at Ghent University seeks a Teaching and Research Assistant to support scientific research and teaching activities while preparing a doctoral dissertation.

Key responsibilities

Devote at least 50% of the appointment to scientific research within one of the department’s research domains (e.g., Banking & Finance, Environmental Economics, etc.).
Support general economics courses and supervise bachelor’s and master’s theses.
Contribute to internal and external service activities of the department.

Required profile

Master of Science degree in Economics or related field, ranking within the top 20% of the cohort.
Strong interest in scientific research with the aim of obtaining a PhD.
Excellent didactic and communication skills.

Required skills

Good knowledge of Dutch (recommended).

What we offer

Two‑year fixed‑term appointment, renewable up to a maximum of six years.
Salary according to scale AAP3, 36 days paid leave, training opportunities, bicycle commuting reimbursement, ecocheques, and other fringe benefits.
