VP Finance – European Biotech Company

About the role

We are a pre‑revenue biotech/life‑sciences company operating across Belgium, Germany and the United States. We seek an experienced finance leader based in Europe to serve as VP Finance, overseeing all financial operations, FP&A and accounting for our three‑entity structure.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a small internal finance team, including an Associate Director FP&A and a Senior Accounting Manager.
• Manage internal consultants (AP, US Finance) and external accounting firms in Belgium and Germany, ensuring statutory compliance and timely group reporting.
• Own the monthly, quarterly and annual close process for all entities, coordinating intercompany eliminations and consolidation in NetSuite.
• Maintain intercompany agreements, cost‑sharing arrangements and transfer‑pricing documentation.
• Administer the NetSuite ERP system, including chart of accounts, workflows and reporting structures.
• Oversee European R&D tax incentives, Belgian innovation income deduction and related grant administration.
• Prepare board‑level financial reports and present strategic financial insights to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Executive‑level finance experience, preferably within biotech or life‑sciences.
• Proven track record managing multi‑entity, multi‑jurisdictional accounting and consolidation.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, Belgian and German statutory accounting standards.
• Experience leading internal finance teams and external service providers.
• Ability to communicate financial strategy to boards and senior executives.
