Transport Planner – Inland Waterway Logistics

About the role

The Transport Planner (also referred to as Transport Coordinator) ensures the smooth execution of transport orders and chartering activities for a leading inland waterway logistics cooperative. Based near Antwerp, you will allocate vessels, maintain customer relationships, and support the commercial success of the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Execute transport orders and chartering activities, ensuring proper scheduling and vessel allocation.
• Optimize utilisation of member vessels and coordinate with chartering desk colleagues and senior agents.
• Assign vessels, advise colleagues on vessel planning, and provide timely written quotations.
• Maintain compliance with quality management rules and GMP+ feed‑safety regulations.
• Contribute to acquiring new customers, retain existing ones, and assist in preparing quotations and documentation.
• Monitor developments in inland shipping and the members’ fleet.
• Handle member inquiries, ensure fair distribution and compensation of assignments, and maintain member relationships.
• Participate in member activities such as meetings and social events.
• Foster a positive work environment, share knowledge, and support continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Strong communication and administrative abilities.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, enjoyment of variety, and team‑player attitude.
• Excellent service orientation toward customers and inland shipping entrepreneurs.
• Fluent in Dutch (spoken and written) and strong knowledge of French.
• Residence near Antwerp, Belgium.
