Technical Operations Engineer, Data Center Cybersecurity

About the role

Google Cloud is looking for a Technical Operations Engineer focused on Data Center Cybersecurity. You will work in the Google Data Center (GDC) operational technology environment, ensuring the security and reliability of Windows and Linux systems, HMI devices, and SCADA infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and patch Windows/Linux workstations and servers used in GDC OT environments.
• Identify patch compatibility issues, qualify updates, and integrate new equipment into policy scope.
• Maintain security updates and configurations for HMI machines and embedded OT devices.
• Support Incident Command System (ICS) Priority 0 incidents, acting as coordinator or local incident commander under Security Engineering guidance.
• Install and maintain detection and response tooling, including security endpoint agents on SCADA, HMI, control‑room workstations, and engineering desktops.

Required profile

• Experience with cyber security, cyber threat intelligence, and security assessment.
• Background in IT asset management, IT operations, system administration, network administration, and data‑center technology.
• At least 2 years of experience in network engineering, asset configuration management, or cybersecurity engineering.
• Experience in critical‑infrastructure sectors such as power, water, gas, nuclear, oil & gas, telecommunications, or military service is a plus.
