Technical Operations Engineer, Data Center, Cybersecurity

About the role

Google Cloud is looking for a Technical Operations Engineer to strengthen the security and reliability of its data centre and operational technology (OT) environments. The role combines cyber‑security expertise with hands‑on management of Linux, SCADA and networking equipment to protect Google’s customers and services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and patch Linux workstations and servers used in the GDC OT environment, coordinating with stakeholders to resolve compatibility issues.
• Maintain and apply security updates to Human‑Machine Interface (HMI) devices and embedded OT equipment.
• Maintain switches and networking infrastructure supporting OT and data‑center operations.
• Integrate new equipment into security policies and ensure consistent configuration across the environment.

Required profile

• Experience with cyber security, cyber threat intelligence and security assessment.
• Background in IT asset management, IT operations, system and network administration, and data‑center technology.
• At least 2 years of experience in network engineering, asset configuration management or cybersecurity engineering.
• Experience with critical‑infrastructure environments such as utilities, oil & gas, telecommunications or military services.
• Knowledge of SCADA packages (Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk, Schneider Electric Power SCADA Operations, Inductive Automation Ignition) and basic process‑control equipment (PLCs, Remote I/O, protection relays, power meters).
• Proficiency with Linux and Bash shell scripting.
• Understanding of communication protocols, database processes and field networks.
