Structural Design Engineer

About the role

Join Jan De Nul's Marine Design and Engineering Department as a Structural Design Engineer. You will be responsible for designing steel components and structures for ships and offshore projects, turning innovative concepts into detailed production drawings.

Key responsibilities

• Design 2D and 3D steel components and structures from concept to production drawings.
• Perform strength calculations and generate reports using hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis.
• Collaborate with internal departments to define design constraints.
• Create detailed 2D/3D drawings of steel constructions and mechanical parts.
• Support CAD designers, follow up on production drawings, and provide technical assistance.
• Conduct feasibility studies for new projects.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Electro‑Mechanics, Industrial Design or a related field, or a bachelor’s degree with several years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience with 2D/3D design and Finite Element Analysis.
• Ability to perform hand calculations for steel structures.
• Experience in marine, ship, or offshore structural design is a plus.
• Familiarity with PTC Creo Elements, PTC Windchill and Ansys Mechanical.
