Space Opto-Mechatronics Test Engineer

About the role

Aerospacelab designs and manufactures small satellites and develops earth observation services, with offices in Belgium, France, Switzerland and the US. It is looking for a Space Opto-Mechatronics Test Engineer to prepare, design and run tests on prototypes of opto-mechatronic systems, including space equipment, and to handle test data acquisition, processing, analysis and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, design and execute tests on opto-mechatronic system prototypes, using available equipment adapted to specific tests such as thermal vacuum chambers, thermal chambers and shakers.
• Design test equipment, help with prototype development and operations, and extend or build new test setups.
• Provide testing input to the wider team and feed their input back.

Required profile

• MSc in electromechanical, electrical, aerospace or similar engineering; open to juniors with no prior experience but strong motivation to learn.
• Knowledge or interest in environmental testing, measurement concepts and tools, and data acquisition and measurement automation.
• Knowledge of a scripting language such as Python or C++.
• Nice to have: experience with optical components (laser diodes, optical fibers, photodiodes), thermal and vacuum or vibration tests, and space-oriented AITV processes.
