Software Architect

About the role

Alstom is looking for a full‑time Software Architect to join its Charleroi team. You will apply your software development expertise in a cutting‑edge rail mobility environment, collaborating with architects, hardware designers and quality engineers to deliver high‑quality solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with software architects to elaborate specifications and overall architecture.
• Design, code, and test software components that meet project requirements.
• Set up and maintain the software development toolchain.
• Define, design and execute verification tests for deliverables.
• Manage software work products under configuration control.
• Support integration activities between software‑software and software‑hardware.
• Stay informed of technology trends through continuous learning and research.
• Contribute to standardisation by reusing or creating reusable solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement by applying lessons learned and enhancing processes.

Required profile

• Engineer degree or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Proven experience in software development (mandatory).
• Understanding of railway or safety‑critical software development is desirable.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English; French is highly desirable, German is an asset.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
