Senior Systems Engineer – Space & Earth Observation

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to lead the development of advanced imaging and sensing systems for space‑based Earth observation. The role sits at the centre of product development, linking customers, engineering teams and manufacturing to deliver next‑generation camera and imaging technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Capture, analyse and manage customer and stakeholder requirements.
• Translate needs into clear system requirements, technical specifications and acceptance criteria.
• Define system architectures and high‑level technical solutions.
• Lead systems engineering activities throughout the full product lifecycle, from concept to delivery.
• Develop project plans and coordinate technical activities across software, electronics, mechanical, optical and assembly teams.
• Allocate requirements, manage traceability, verification and validation.
• Support system integration, testing, troubleshooting and product qualification.
• Identify and manage technical risks, issues and change requests.
• Act as the technical focal point for internal stakeholders and external customers.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.

Required profile

• Degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace, Electronics, Mechanical, Physics or a related discipline.
• Proven senior‑level systems engineering experience in a complex engineering environment.
• Strong background in requirements capture, management and system specification development.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary product development programmes from concept through delivery.
• Excellent stakeholder management and customer‑facing communication skills.
• Experience coordinating activities across multiple engineering disciplines.

Required skills

• Requirements management tools such as DOORS, Jama or Polarion.
• Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
• Knowledge of system integration, verification and validation processes.
• Familiarity with regulated engineering environments and product lifecycle management.
