Senior Procurement Officer – Public Sector (Brussels)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Procurement Officer with extensive experience in public procurement to support a leading public‑sector client in Brussels. The role involves managing the full lifecycle of contracts for supplies and services, ensuring compliance with legislation and delivering value to the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee terms, deadlines and renewals of major contracts and supplier agreements.
• Negotiate with external parties while maintaining professional supplier relationships.
• Analyse purchase requests, identify risks and opportunities, and advise clients on optimal solutions.
• Monitor supplier performance using KPIs and develop improvement plans.
• Translate functional requirements into detailed technical specifications in collaboration with clients or suppliers.
• Standardise client queries into actionable plans and manage contract requests from initiation to delivery.
• Create contingency documentation to ensure business continuity and propose specification improvements.
• Stay current with procurement legislation and proactively refresh the supplier portfolio.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of experience in public procurement, focusing on supplies and services.
• Deep knowledge of public procurement law and related legislation.
• Proven track record in negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships.
• Experience drafting, finalising and implementing purchase contracts.
• Strong analytical skills for risk assessment and mitigation.
• Result‑oriented with a strong customer focus and excellent communication in English.
