Senior Network Engineer – WAN Design & Deployment

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer with over 8 years of experience in wide‑area network design, deployment and operation to support a leading public‑sector client in Brussels. The role is a long‑term contract focused on enhancing and maintaining a secure, high‑availability WAN infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse existing network architecture, performance and operational gaps and propose improvements.
• Plan, design and implement WAN and LAN routing optimisations, including OSPF (single‑ and multi‑area) and BGP configurations.
• Deploy and maintain DMVPN Phase 3, VRF, VPN technologies and Layer 3 redundancy protocols (VRRP, HSRP, GLBP).
• Configure QoS on Cisco Layer 2/3 devices, NAT, TACACS and Cisco Identity Services Engine.
• Document technical solutions, produce monthly progress reports and coordinate with technicians, security experts and suppliers.
• Ensure network resilience, high availability and compliance with security policies for classified environments.

Required profile

• 8 + years of network engineering experience, preferably in public‑sector or defence environments.
• CCNP‑level certification or equivalent.
• Valid NATO Secret‑level security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, networking or a related field (desirable).
• Experience with classified, governmental or defence‑related networks (desirable).
