Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

Melexis is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join its Tessenderlo office. You will act as a true business partner within a global, technology‑driven organization, supporting a wide range of commercial and IP‑related agreements.

Key responsibilities

• Negotiate, draft and review international commercial contracts, including agreements with universities, customers, suppliers, and IP licences.
• Provide legal advice to sales, procurement, R&D and innovation teams, translating complex legal issues into clear, pragmatic guidance.
• Balance legal risk with commercial objectives to enable confident business decisions.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external counsel to deliver efficient, solution‑oriented support.
• Contribute to the development and strengthening of the legal function as a strategic partner.
• Engage directly with senior leadership and executive teams in a flat organisational structure.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Law (Belgian university).
• Minimum 8 years of experience in commercial law, preferably as in‑house counsel in an international environment.
• Strong expertise in international commercial contracts with an affinity for IP‑related matters.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Interest in innovation, technology and the automotive or robotics sectors.
• Analytical, solution‑driven and able to communicate complex legal concepts clearly.
• Team‑player who values transparency and knowledge sharing.
