Senior Cyber Security Consultant (Freelance)

About the role

Proximus NXT is looking for a senior freelance cyber security consultant to act as a strategic CISO‑type advisor for its customers. You will work on‑site in Brussels twice a week and remotely the rest of the time, helping organisations translate complex threats into clear business‑level decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement cyber security policies and long‑term roadmaps that align with each client’s business strategy.
• Provide high‑level governance support, participating in board meetings, risk committees and establishing security, privacy and business‑continuity processes.
• Conduct risk analyses across IT, OT and IoT environments and make findings understandable for senior management.
• Guide clients through regulatory requirements such as NIS2, GDPR and prepare them for audits and ISO certifications.
• Oversee incident response, coordinate crisis communication and advise on the optimal use of SOC and monitoring services.
• Raise security awareness, produce clear risk and maturity reports, and serve as the central point of contact for all stakeholders.

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent academic background.
• Extensive experience in governance, risk & compliance (GRC) and advisory roles at C‑level.
• Strong diplomatic and consulting skills to bridge technical and business perspectives.
