Senior Accountant

About the role

Smappee is looking for a Senior Accountant to join its Finance team. You will be responsible for accurate bookkeeping across several Belgian and international entities, support the Order‑to‑Cash process and contribute to continuous improvement of financial workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Manage general accounting for multiple Belgian and international group entities.
• Process purchase invoices, employee expense claims and sales invoices.
• Perform treasury activities and monitor daily cash flow.
• Execute monthly closing activities, including balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare VAT returns and other statutory tax declarations.
• Own and improve the Order‑to‑Cash (OTC) process, including customer payment follow‑up.
• Support the CFO and Finance team with ad‑hoc financial analyses and projects.
• Drive process improvements and optimise accounting workflows within the ERP system.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar accounting role, preferably in an international environment.
• Strong knowledge of general accounting principles, VAT legislation and tax regulations.
• Experience with process improvement and a continuous‑improvement mindset.
• Fluent English; Dutch is a plus.
• Proactive, hands‑on team player with high ownership and ability to work independently.
