Scientific Researcher – Quantum Dot Synthesis

About the role

The project focuses on the synthesis and characterisation of colloidal indium arsenide phosphide (InAsP) quantum dots for short‑wave infrared (SWIR) applications. The researcher will develop and optimise hot‑injection syntheses, analyse material properties and evaluate device integration.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, perform and optimise colloidal InAsP quantum‑dot syntheses using hot‑injection under inert‑gas conditions.
• Investigate how synthesis parameters affect composition, size, optical properties and reproducibility.
• Characterise materials with spectroscopic and analytical techniques, focusing on NIR and SWIR optical spectroscopy.
• Assess suitability of quantum dots for optoelectronic devices, including thin‑film fabrication and photodetector integration.
• Document results, process data and present findings in scientific reports and meetings.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Nanoscience, Physics, Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Practical experience with colloidal nanomaterial synthesis, especially hot‑injection methods.
• Experience handling air‑ and moisture‑sensitive chemistry under inert‑gas atmosphere.
• Good written and spoken English for scientific communication.
