Robotics Application Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Robotics Application Engineer to join our R&D Application Engineering team in Wavre, Belgium. You will work on autonomous outdoor robots, focusing on validation, AI integration and real‑world testing to ensure the products are safe, robust and ready for field deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Validate embedded software for autonomous mowing robots and related smartphone/web applications.
• Develop and maintain Software‑in‑the‑Loop (SiL) and Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HiL) test environments.
• Automate validation processes to improve repeatability and test coverage across releases.
• Test AI‑based features such as object detection, safety behaviours and classification using large datasets of logs, images and sensor data.
• Conduct field trials in outdoor environments, support customer pilots and assist dealers during installations.
• Perform root‑cause analysis of complex issues spanning hardware, software, GNSS, connectivity and AI behaviour.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, user manuals, release notes and troubleshooting guides.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Engineering, preferably in software or system engineering.
• Broad engineering knowledge covering mechanics, electronics, software, telecommunications and sensors.
• Experience in mechatronics, robotics or related fields such as automotive or agricultural engineering.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to work hands‑on in labs and outdoor test sites.

Required skills

• Data analysis using scripts, automation, Power BI and database tools.
• Familiarity with AI algorithms and computer‑vision techniques (e.g., object detection).
• Experience building SiL/HiL test setups.
• Comfortable working with robot software and embedded systems.
