Python Backend Developer (On-site, Full-time)

About the role

Wattloop is looking for a Python Backend Developer to join its Ghent office. You will be responsible for the core backend that powers the company’s instant diagnostics platform for end‑of‑life electric‑vehicle batteries.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain RESTful APIs using Python frameworks such as Flask, Django or FastAPI.
• Build and optimise the data pipeline that transfers diagnostic data from devices to the cloud.
• Integrate new battery models and automotive protocols (e.g., CAN, UDS) into the assessment system.
• Define and optimise database schemas, write efficient SQL queries and work with PostgreSQL via SQLAlchemy.
• Containerise services and manage deployments using Docker.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of professional experience developing Python applications.
• Strong grasp of object‑oriented programming, API design and database optimisation.
• Ability to own features end‑to‑end with minimal supervision.
• Comfortable making decisions with incomplete information and iterating quickly.
