Night Attendant – Emergency Reception Center

About the role

Join the Red Cross Flanders team as a Night Attendant at the Emergency Reception Center in St‑Lambrechts‑Woluwe. You will play a vital part in supporting asylum seekers while they await the outcome of their protection procedures, ensuring a safe and well‑organized environment during night shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the practical organization of the reception centre during night hours.
• Apply internal regulations and maintain compliance.
• Provide psychosocial counseling to applicants for international protection.
• Handle administrative duties such as mail processing and electronic resident file follow‑up.
• Manage logistical tasks including stock management.
• Ensure smooth information flow and act as a signal to the centre manager.

Required profile

• Secondary education in a people‑oriented field.
• Experience with conversation techniques and handling sensitive issues.
• Fluent English; additional languages are a plus.
• Proven experience working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Several years of psychosocial counseling experience with vulnerable groups.
• Hands‑on mentality, flexibility for weekend and night shift work.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to administrative accuracy.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with electronic file management systems.

What we offer

• Full‑time permanent contract (38 h/week) with a 7‑night on / 7‑day off schedule.
• Salary based on scale 224 (PC 319.00) with a shift bonus of approximately 24.93%.
