Middle & High School Spanish Teacher (IB)

About the role

St. John’s International School is looking for a passionate Middle & High School Spanish Teacher to join its international faculty. The teacher will deliver Spanish instruction to students in Grades 9‑12, covering beginner courses and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. The role combines classroom teaching with pastoral responsibilities as a homeroom teacher.

Key responsibilities

• Teach Spanish across Middle and High School, including the IB Diploma Programme.
• Design and deliver inquiry‑based, student‑centered lessons that address diverse cultural and linguistic needs.
• Prepare students for internal assessments and external IB examinations.
• Promote appreciation of Hispanic cultures, literature and global perspectives.
• Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback and maintain academic records.
• Write academic reports and participate in parent‑teacher conferences.
• Serve as a homeroom teacher, supporting student well‑being and safeguarding.
• Contribute to extracurricular activities, departmental meetings and professional development.

Required profile

• University degree in Spanish Philology, Hispanic Studies, Education or a related field.
• Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, Estado or equivalent).
• Proven experience teaching Spanish in secondary education; IB Diploma experience is a strong advantage.
• Native or near‑native fluency in Spanish and professional proficiency in English.
• Valid work authorization for Belgium.
