Mechanical Engineer – MedTech Device Design

About the role

Man & Science (M&S) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical development of its next‑generation miniaturised implantable neurostimulation device. Based in Liège, Belgium, you will turn concepts into manufacturable products and work closely with suppliers to bring the technology to patients.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate mechanical design of the miniaturised implant and ensure feasibility for production.
• Collaborate with external suppliers and contract manufacturers to develop prototypes and scale‑up manufacturing.
• Iterate designs rapidly, challenge assumptions and adapt solutions to technical and regulatory constraints.
• Generate clear technical specifications and documentation for cross‑functional teams.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design or a related field.
• 1–3 years of mechanical design experience, preferably in a regulated industry such as medical devices or aerospace.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or an equivalent parametric 3D CAD tool.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes for miniaturised devices (micro‑machining, laser cutting, laser welding, injection molding, small‑component assembly).
• Basic knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
• Exposure to quality and regulatory frameworks (ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 820, IEC 60601) is a strong advantage.
• Experience working with external suppliers or contract manufacturers.
• Strong written and spoken English and willingness to travel.
