Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

SII Belgium is looking for a motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to develop innovative mechanical solutions for clients in the aerospace and defense sectors. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, applying engineering principles to create and improve systems such as brakes, steering, hydraulics, pneumatics, and suspension.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and detail concepts using hand calculations and finite element methods (FEM).
• Design new systems and enhance existing ones, including brake, steering, hydraulic, pneumatic, and suspension components.
• Generate design substantiation through analyses and complex test setups.
• Prepare compliance demonstration reports in English.
• Coordinate with suppliers to ensure technical requirements are met.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive, Aviation/Aerospace design, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
• Strong written communication skills in French; English required, Dutch a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD tools (Creo, SOLIDWORKS, CATIA).
• Experience with FMEA, strength calculations, and FEM analysis.
• Knowledge of compliance demonstration and certification processes (preferred).
