Maintenance Technician – Reliability Maintenance Engineering

About the role

As a Maintenance Technician in Amazon’s Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team, you will ensure the continuous operation of critical automated equipment in a fulfilment centre. You will work on a variety of machines, from conveyors and robots to barcode scanners, keeping them safe, reliable and efficient.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on conveyors, robots, sorting and packaging systems using a CMMS.
• Conduct risk assessments and enforce health‑and‑safety protocols for all maintenance activities.
• Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns, troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and automation faults, and communicate status to operational teams.
• Maintain and configure PLCs, field networks, barcode scanners and print‑and‑apply systems.
• Collaborate with equipment manufacturers and external contractors to optimise maintenance procedures.
• Analyse performance data, identify improvement opportunities and drive cost‑reduction initiatives.
• Share technical knowledge and mentor junior technicians.

Required profile

• Technical background in maintenance or reliability engineering.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends and bank holidays in a 24/7 environment.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and ability to communicate clearly with operational teams.

Required skills

• Preventive maintenance of automated equipment.
• Use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Programming and configuration of PLCs and fieldbus networks.
• Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Automation system diagnostics.
• Servicing of barcode scanners and sorting equipment.
