Legal Counsel – In‑House (Financial Regulation)

About the role

We are seeking a full‑time In‑House Legal Counsel to join the Corporate Legal team of HR Pay Solutions, a regulated payment institution within the WorxInvest group. The role focuses on financial regulation in the payments and fintech ecosystem, providing trusted legal advice to senior management and the Compliance & Risk functions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on financial and prudential regulation applicable to payment institutions (e.g., PSD2/PSD3, AML/CFT, safeguarding, governance, outsourcing).
• Monitor, interpret and translate regulations and guidelines issued by supervisory authorities (NBB, ECB, EBA) into internal policies and procedures.
• Support compliance with licensing conditions, regulatory reporting obligations and interactions with supervisory authorities.
• Assist in the development of new products, services and partnerships within the payments and fintech ecosystem.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts with banks, payment service providers, card schemes, vendors and strategic partners.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including executives and other legal professionals, to ensure compliance and mitigate legal risk.
• Coordinate and manage external legal counsel when required.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to ensure ongoing compliance with applicable laws and industry standards.

Required profile

• Strong interest and experience in financial regulation, preferably within payment institutions, fintech companies, credit‑card businesses or similar financial entities.
• Ability to act as a trusted legal partner to senior management and cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent analytical skills and the capacity to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical guidance.
• Proven ability to draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts.
• Experience coordinating external counsel and managing regulatory relationships.

Required skills
