Legal Counsel EMEA

About the role

We are seeking a Legal Counsel for the EMEA region to join the legal team of an international manufacturer based in West‑Flanders. The role focuses on employment law and GDPR while also handling commercial contract matters, supporting HR, IT and other departments across Belgium, France and the wider EMEA area.

Key responsibilities

• Employment law: advise HR and management on individual and collective matters, support recruitment, onboarding, contracts, performance, disciplinary procedures, reorganisations, terminations and relations with works councils, employee representatives and trade unions; manage employment law cases and liaise with external counsel.
• GDPR & data protection: provide guidance on GDPR compliance across EMEA, draft and negotiate Data Processing Agreements, contribute to DPIAs, manage data‑breach incidents and oversee international data transfers.
• Contracts & general legal advice: draft and review commercial contracts (services, supply, procurement, technology, confidentiality), advise departments on day‑to‑day legal issues and coordinate external counsel when needed.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Law.
• Minimum 5 years of recent legal experience, with proven expertise in employment law and GDPR/data protection.
• Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts is a strong asset.
• Ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, practical advice.
• Comfortable working in an international, multidisciplinary environment; English and Dutch are mandatory, additional languages a plus.
