Legal Advisor – Supervision of Asset Management

About the role

As a Legal Advisor in the Supervision of Asset Management, Savings Products and Bank Investment Products department, you will support the Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) in safeguarding the financial sector and protecting consumers. You will work on authorisation applications and ongoing supervision of investment firms, ensuring that regulatory practice is consistent and robust.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse authorisation applications and supervise a portfolio of asset‑management and investment‑product companies.
• Assess business models, organisational structures and service offerings for regulatory compliance.
• Review quantitative reporting, collaborating with economists when needed.
• Prepare and potentially participate in inspections together with the FSMA inspection team.
• Coordinate with colleagues supervising public UCIs, conduct‑of‑business rules, perimeter supervision and data analytics.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Law.
• At least three years of experience in the financial sector, preferably with exposure to asset‑management firms.
• Strong analytical, organisational and synthesis abilities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, capable of presenting complex legal content clearly.
• Interest in finance‑related challenges such as digitisation, fintech and big data.
• Fluency in Dutch and good command of French and English.
