Lead DevOps Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer to own and evolve a high‑traffic scraping platform that processes billions of requests worldwide. Based in Belgium and operating in a remote‑first environment, you will combine hands‑on technical depth with strategic leadership to ensure reliability, security, and cost efficiency at massive scale.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the platform roadmap, identifying critical improvements and architectural priorities.
• Consolidate multiple infrastructure stacks into a unified, scalable platform with minimal disruption.
• Design and optimise cloud infrastructure for performance, scalability, security and cost efficiency.
• Implement robust monitoring, alerting, logging and disaster‑recovery strategies.
• Lead cost‑optimization initiatives, especially around proxy and compute expenses.
• Strengthen security posture by proactively addressing vulnerabilities.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on system design and support AI‑related development workflows.
• Mentor engineers and raise platform engineering maturity, tooling and processes.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform or Infrastructure Engineering at scale.
• Strong hands‑on expertise with Kubernetes and large‑scale distributed systems.
• Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and CI/CD pipeline construction.
• Solid knowledge of cloud/hosting providers such as DigitalOcean or Hetzner.
• Familiarity with databases like PostgreSQL, Redis, ClickHouse or MongoDB is a plus.
• Expertise in monitoring and observability tools (Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus, ELK).
