Junior Associate – Competition Law

About the role

DLA Piper is seeking a Junior Associate with 1‑3 years of experience to join its Competition practice in Brussels. You will work on a broad spectrum of international competition matters, ranging from merger control and foreign direct investment screening to behavioural competition and state aid investigations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with merger control and FDI filings before the European Commission and national authorities.
• Provide advice on Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR) matters.
• Conduct legal research and draft tailored competition law advice.
• Support clients in behavioural and commercial competition issues.
• Assist in competition investigations, information requests, and market inquiries.
• Coordinate with foreign counsel and other DLA Piper offices on multijurisdictional projects.
• Prepare notifications, submissions, client memoranda, and regulatory filings.

Required profile

• Qualified or qualifying lawyer in Belgium.
• 1‑3 years of experience in competition law.
• Strong interest in merger control, FDI, FSR, investigations and behavioural competition.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• High work standards, analytical mindset, and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage complex matters in a fast‑paced, international environment.
