Java Backend Software Engineer

About the role

SOFICO is looking for a Java Backend Software Engineer to join its Product Engineering team in Ghent. You will help evolve the Miles platform by building scalable, cloud‑native backend services that serve customers across markets.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and evolve Java backend services using modern Java (Java 17/21) and Domain‑Driven Design principles.
• Implement RESTful APIs, integrate services and platforms, and ensure reusable product capabilities.
• Own the full lifecycle of features—from technical design and development to testing, deployment, CI/CD and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with architects, product stakeholders and fellow engineers through code reviews, technical discussions and knowledge sharing.
• Apply a security‑first mindset within the Secure Software Development Life Cycle.

Required profile

• 2+ years of professional backend development experience with Java.
• Strong understanding of clean, maintainable software design and microservice architectures.
• Good communication skills in English and ability to work in an international engineering environment.
