Head of Tax (Remote‑First)

About the role

Join the European Payments Initiative (EPI) as the Head of Tax and build a pan‑European tax framework from the ground up. You will work remotely, collaborating with finance, legal and strategic stakeholders to ensure compliance and drive tax‑strategic decisions across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement EPI’s tax strategy for corporate tax, VAT and related regulations across Europe.
• Ensure full compliance while supporting rapid product launches and market expansion.
• Partner with Finance and Legal to optimise tax structuring for new products, partnerships and cross‑border operations.
• Anticipate and manage tax risks linked to regulatory changes.
• Lead relationships with external tax advisors, auditors and tax authorities.
• Build scalable tax processes, governance frameworks and reporting mechanisms.

Required profile

• 10+ years of tax experience, preferably in international groups, fintech or financial services.
• Strong expertise in European corporate tax and VAT in cross‑border environments.
• Proven ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels in fast‑paced settings.
• Experience in scale‑up or transformation environments is a plus.
• Familiarity with regulated financial or payments institutions is highly valued.
