Global Regulatory Affairs Director

About the role

The Global Regulatory Affairs Director will report directly to the IFRA President and lead the defence of fragrance ingredients against regulatory challenges worldwide. The role combines technical expertise on fragrance chemicals with strategic coordination across IFRA’s regional teams and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and track ECHA activities to identify fragrance substances under regulatory scrutiny and communicate findings to members.
• Coordinate industry input for public consultations on the harmonised classification and labelling (CLP) process, including reviewing proposals and consolidating feedback.
• Manage industry participation in ECHA RAC meetings by preparing and submitting technical inputs.
• Collaborate with partner associations to develop and advocate IFRA’s regulatory positions on priority subjects.
• Facilitate pre‑consortia formation for derogation dossiers under the Cosmetic Products Regulation.
• Track global regulatory developments, assess emerging policies, and provide recommendations to regional teams.
• Draft technical guidance and comments for regulatory authorities and support related meetings.
• Represent IFRA in regional and global association meetings, ensuring the fragrance industry’s perspective is heard.
• Organise IFRA groups, plan calls and meetings, and provide project‑management support for ingredients defence initiatives.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in regulatory affairs, preferably within the chemicals or fragrance sector.
• Strong scientific or technical background supporting regulatory knowledge.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and coordinate with external stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills for conveying complex regulatory issues to diverse audiences.
