Freelance Maintenance Manager / Chief Engineer – Hotel Renovations

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Maintenance Manager / Chief Engineer to lead renovation projects and oversee technical operations across several hotel properties in Ghent, Antwerp, and Brussels. The role combines project supervision with hands‑on maintenance management in a fast‑paced, high‑standard hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate ongoing hotel renovation works, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Liaise with contractors, architects, and internal teams to minimise operational disruptions.
• Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of all hotel facilities, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety and building automation systems.
• Manage and mentor the technical maintenance team, both in‑house and external, organising work schedules and prioritising tasks.
• Provide daily and weekly reports on project progress, maintenance activities and critical issues.
• Collaborate closely with General Managers and Asset Management teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Maintenance Manager or Chief Engineer in 4‑5 hotels or luxury hospitality properties.
• Strong background in hotel renovation projects from planning to execution.
• Fluent in Dutch and English; French is a plus.
• Ability to travel daily between Ghent, Antwerp and Brussels.
