Finance & Accounting Officer

About the role

The Centre for Future Generations is seeking a Finance & Accounting Officer to join its finance team in Brussels. This hands‑on position will manage day‑to‑day financial operations, supporting both the Belgian VZW and Dutch Stichting entities. You will work closely with the CFOO, an external accountant and various grant managers.

Key responsibilities

• Record and process invoices, payments and expenses for both entities with correct coding.
• Manage end‑to‑end accounts payable and receivable, including payment runs and expense reimbursements.
• Perform regular bank and ledger reconciliations and handle inter‑company adjustments.
• Support month‑end and year‑end close, preparing management reports in coordination with external accountants.
• Assist with grant reporting, payroll administration and liaison with statutory accountants and social secretariat.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Proven hands‑on accounting experience, including month‑end and year‑end close procedures.
• Experience in a multi‑entity or dual‑jurisdiction environment is a strong advantage.
• Background in the NGO or non‑profit sector is beneficial but not mandatory.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting ERP systems; experience with Exact Online is a plus.
• Familiarity with expense management tools such as Payhawk or equivalents.
• Knowledge of Belgian B2B e‑invoicing via Peppol.
• Understanding of Belgian GAAP and Dutch GAAP.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
