EU Humanitarian Advocacy Assistant

About the role

The EU Humanitarian Advocacy Assistant will support DRC’s Brussels EU Representation in influencing EU policies on refugees, conflict‑affected populations, and humanitarian crises. Working closely with the Senior EU Advocacy Advisor, the intern will contribute to research, analysis, and communication efforts that shape DRC’s advocacy strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor EU developments related to humanitarian crises, fragile settings, and displacement, and provide concise analyses to the team.
• Draft internal and external advocacy products such as policy briefs, briefing notes, and advocacy messages.
• Analyze DRC reports and other materials to tailor messages for key EU stakeholders.
• Support stakeholder mapping, maintain contact lists, and assist with outreach activities.
• Coordinate logistics for internal and external meetings, including note‑taking and follow‑up actions.
• Maintain the team’s InSite intranet pages, internal newsletter, and EU‑focused social media channels.
• Format, proofread, and edit documents and communication tools.

Required profile

• Strong interest in humanitarian operations, global displacement, and EU institutions.
• University degree (bachelor required, master preferred) in law, social sciences, international development, humanitarian aid, or a related field.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Demonstrated motivation through academic, professional, or voluntary experience in DRC’s areas of work.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Experience using Office 365.
