EU AML/CFT Compliance Officer (AMLCO)

About the role

NALA is expanding its payments platform across the European Union and needs a senior AML/CFT Compliance Officer to design, implement and oversee the EU compliance programme. As the designated Management Level Officer, you will safeguard the licence, enable passporting and ensure the integrity of fast, fair payments for the diaspora.

Key responsibilities

• Own NALA's EU AML/CFT framework end‑to‑end, ensuring alignment with AMLD5/6, EBA guidelines and local transposition requirements.
• Act as the Management Level AMLCO under Article 8 AMLD, serving as the primary contact for National Competent Authorities (e.g., BaFin, ACPR, CSSF) and leading all regulatory interactions.
• Lead preparation for the upcoming AMLA, mapping existing controls to emerging supervisory expectations and building pan‑European oversight capability.
• Develop and maintain a Business‑Wide Risk Assessment covering cross‑border corridors, customer segments and product sets to satisfy home‑state and EU passporting regulators.
• Oversee transaction monitoring, sanctions screening and PEP detection, collaborating with product and engineering teams to tune AI‑driven systems and audit their effectiveness.
• Manage high‑stakes financial crime reporting obligations, including SARs and STRs, ensuring timely, accurate filing and escalation to senior leadership and the board.

Required profile

• Proven experience in AML/CFT compliance within a fintech or payments environment.
• Deep knowledge of EU AML directives (AMLD5/6), EBA guidelines and the emerging AMLA supervisory framework.
• Demonstrated ability to interact with multiple National Competent Authorities and manage regulatory examinations.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience designing risk assessments and overseeing transaction monitoring systems.
