Electrical Design Engineer – HV/MV Systems (English + French/Dutch)

About the role

ALTEN Belgium is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join its Brussels team. You will work on a variety of client projects, focusing on high‑voltage (HV), medium‑voltage (MV) and low‑voltage (LV) power system design and integration.

Key responsibilities

• Design and manage studies for HV substations, grid connections, LV and protection systems.
• Develop one‑line diagrams, specify transformers, reactors, GIS, switchgear and other substation components.
• Design LV auxiliary systems such as UPS, inverters, batteries, diesel generators and distribution boards.
• Define protection concepts and create protection/control panels for diverse installations.
• Design earthing, lightning protection and HV/MV/LV cable layouts.
• Prepare technical specifications, tender files, comparison and commissioning reports.
• Oversee FAT and SAT activities and supervise on‑site installation and commissioning.
• Manage technical, commercial and administrative follow‑up of contracts.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Industrial or Electrical Engineering, preferably with a focus on Power Systems.
• 0–2 years of experience in transmission and distribution systems.
• Fluent English and proficiency in French or Dutch.
• Motivated, eager to learn and able to work independently and within a team.
• Strong analytical mindset and sense of responsibility for project planning and finances.
