Educational Support Assistant / Teacher with Support Qualifications

About the role

The European School Brussels I seeks part‑time Educational Support Assistants and/or teachers with support qualifications to help pupils with special educational needs. You will work in a multicultural environment, ensuring the well‑being, inclusion and academic success of students across a range of language sections.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct physical care such as assistance with mobility, toileting, feeding and medical procedures.
• Monitor pupils' health and safety throughout the school day and during off‑site activities.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, parents and staff to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Deliver personalised educational support in class, small groups or one‑to‑one settings, using differentiated teaching methods.
• Assist in preparing and using Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and employ assistive technologies to facilitate learning.
• Promote positive peer interactions, manage classroom behaviour and support social‑emotional development.
• Maintain accurate records of care provided, health incidents and progress observations.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in special educational needs support or teaching with support credentials.
• Experience working with pupils who have diverse learning and health needs.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multilingual, multicultural school community.
• Strong communication skills with parents, healthcare providers and educational staff.
