Drug Safety & Benefit-Risk Scientist

About the role

UCB is seeking a Drug Safety & Benefit‑Risk Scientist to join its Patient Safety team in Brussels. You will play a pivotal part in evaluating the safety and benefit‑risk profile of medicines throughout development and post‑approval phases, supporting scientific and regulatory decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse safety and benefit‑risk data to inform regulatory submissions and internal decision‑making.
• Prepare safety assessments, benefit‑risk documentation, and scientific reports for both investigational and marketed products.
• Interpret clinical and pharmacovigilance data, communicating key findings to cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Support signal detection, risk‑management activities, and safety monitoring strategies.
• Contribute to inspection‑ready documentation and continuous process improvement.
• For senior candidates, mentor colleagues and lead complex benefit‑risk deliverables.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in life sciences, pharmacy, medicine or a related discipline.
• Experience in drug safety, pharmacovigilance, benefit‑risk assessment or clinical development.
• Ability to interpret complex scientific data and communicate insights clearly.
• Strong written communication skills with experience preparing scientific documents.
• Collaborative approach and ability to work across global multidisciplinary teams.
